About Me

Hi! I'm Jose Maria Pardo, a freelance software developer who is currently searching for opportunities to get into the videogame industry.

Since I was little, I've loved creating things like characters, stories, and environments that I would later turn into drawings or scale models. I used to fill my grandparents’ house with a lot of scale models made of cardboard and I still love to build things like that from time to time.

That was the main reason why I first decided to study architecture, and so I did for two years at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences; until I realized I loved more the idea of creating and designing stuff. As well as having as much freedom as I could possibly have.

Therefore, I liked the idea of exploring videogames and trying to implement what I like into the media that has being part of my entire life, so I decided to study Game Design.

In the meantime, during my transition between studying game design and architecture, I was introduced in programming with Json and learned more about software development. Since then, I've been working on that area and taking commissions from some companies in South America.

My dream is to put my skills into work inside the videogame industry and being able to make other people experience the same feelings I had when I played as a kid. I've been making videogames for two years and I'm loving it so far!

As an artist I've always loved making simple designs that have deeper meanings, designs that would look as something random or just interesting to look at but that have a whole story or context that gives it that certain shape or composition. The idea is that every design could feel alive, like they could tell their own story only if you look hard enough. I also love playing with this idea and implement the exploration of people's feelings or something deeper as life or purpose into them. On the other hand, when it comes to drawings, I like to make realistic environments or stages, but this is changing since I'm trying to find a new art style which could probably be something related to the concept that was previously explained.
